New Publication – Deindustrialization to Reindustrialization: Social and Economic Impact of Postcommunist Industrial Transformation

Tibor Valuch , a member of our institute, published a chapter in De Gruyter Handbook of Eastern European Politics, Society and Culture called Deindustrialization to Reindustrialization: Social and Economic Impact of Postcommunist Industrial Transformation.

In the chapter, the author analyzes the effects of the industrial transformation that took place in Hungary and Central Europe at the end of the 20th and beginning of the 21st century, including de-, post-, and re-industrialization. The chapter presents these changes within a broader social and economic context, highlighting the interrelationships between the different elements of the process. It outlines the economic context of the transformation and its impact on society.

The complex economic and socio-historical approach applied in the study allows for a more precise understanding of this social and economic change. The analysis employs a comparative methodology grounded in social and economic history.

The book is available at the publisher's website.
