The volume Climate Assemblies, edited by internationally renowned scholars of democratic innovation, has recently been published. Among its contributions is a chapter by researchers from our institute, Dániel Oross and Zsolt Boda, which examines the effectiveness of climate assemblies within the current Hungarian political context.

Our institute's researchers Veronika Patkós and Bendegúz Plesz are investigating the question in their latest article, drawing evidence from 28 European countries in West European Politics (D1).

In their book, the researchers investigate how social media platforms operate as new spaces for local political interaction, community-building, and public discourse, and they assess their implications for democratic practices.

The article "Weaponizing Wedge Issues: Strategies of Populism and Illiberalism in European Election Campaigning on Facebook" has been published in the Q1-ranked journal Media and Communication. One of the co-authors is Annamária Sebestyén, a Research Fellow at our Institute.

Senior Research Fellow Ana Stojilovska published an article with co-authors Mohammad Jaber and Hyerim Yoon in Urban Science titled: “Assessing the Determinants of Energy Poverty in Jordan Based on a Novel Composite Index” (Q1). 

Senior Research Fellow Ana Stojilovska and her colleagues, Hyerim Yoon and Jan Frankowski, have been awarded the 2025 Early Career Scientist Award by the journal Energy Research & Social Science. 

Ana Stojilovska, Senior Research Fellow at our Institute, won a new project titled Local Initiatives for Green Housing Transitions (LIGHT) funded by the European Climate Foundation. The project aims to empower trusted local actors to co-create structural solutions for affordable, low-carbon housing through shared learning and practices in Hungary.

The article titled "Political Socialization Scenarios Leading to Party Membership in an Autocratizing Democracy: Insights From an Interview-Based Study", authored by Annamária Sebestyén (our Institute's Research Fellow) has been published in the journal Political Studies (D1).

Tibor Valuch’s study titled "The future of deindustrialization – a social and cultural turn? The future of former industrial landscapes and industrial societies in Central Eastern Europe" has been published in issue 1/2025 of the Journal of Contemporary Central and Eastern Europe (Q1, IF: 0.9).

The article of Szilárd Tóth, our Institute's Research Fellow, has been published in Res Publica (Q1). The title of the article is "Why Civic Republicanism Remains a Statist Theory."
